ABOUT
As a major in Family and Consumer Science with an option in Family Studies and a minor in Social Work from Ball State University, I feel prepared to continue my lifelong education in the field working with youth and families. I hope to continue learning throughout my life, learning from professional experiences, gaining a Masters, and conducting my own research.
I created this website portfolio to showcase the skills I've learned thus far in my work, school, and social life. I hope you have a look around to check out my resume, important experiences I've had in my life, and other activities I have led and participated in within the last five years of my college experience.
I have been employed since the age of fourteen in fairly steady positions. I've also often returned to positions, especially summer employment and positions that only are available during the school year. My experience is wide and varied, including positions at diners, pools as swim instructor and lifeguard, and in offices. To streamline your experience on this webpage, I intend to only showcase those positions which I feel have shaped me to be the employee and leader that I am, and only briefly mention the other experiences I have gained. Because I have worked for so many years in my young life, I feel as though I have a very strong work ethic.
Also, because I've worked so many different jobs while attending school (taking between 12-15 credits a semester), I've had to learn how to manage my time wisely, and complete tasks on time, and often before an assignment or task is due. To manage my time as I have, I've had to learn how to become organized, and to keep my files neatly organized so others can find them if I delegate a task to them.
I've worked closely with groups in many of my classes to produce different papers, power point presentations, an educational series for parents, lesson plans, grants, and assessments. Teamwork is an important skill employees looking to work with families should know. It takes teamwork from employees and clients, and co-workers to help others as they deserve to be helped.
While I have many other transferable skills that could help me achieve my dream job; such as honesty/integrity, interpersonal skills, initiative to start my own projects, assessment and analytical skills, and leadership, I hope to show you my skills and abilities that you will find more traits that will fit with your agency and other employees.
Thank you for taking a look at my website. If you would like to contact me, please email me at [email protected].
